I (temporarily) quit banding in February and it's remarkable how quickly any worth I had as a person in this scene utterly evaporated. I'm amused by it; twenty years ago I would have been pretty butthurt, haha...

I'm in 3. HU/LK is my heavy punk outfit. we are playing some shows & writing a new song every once in a while

With musket king my stoner rock band we have one more show in December but until then we are working on a few new jammers . Our lead guitar player just had a baby a few days ago plus with holiday season coming up we aren't planning to do much until next year

With watch husky burn , it's all about timing & schedules . They don't seem to be lining up at the moment . Which is good because we don't have anything booked. I know we'd all like to get on some sort of regular schedule

One of the two tunes that will be worked into the Ocean of Stars set. Started off with the more straight-forward material, now starting to add the more involved, weirder shit.

edit: And I guess I'll be looking into how to share Soundcloud links again. Goddamnit. Thought I knew how but alas.

edit edit: Got it. Search function FTW!

I'm glad (in a way) that I'm not alone here bummed out about playing music. It does sadden me to see that some o' y'all are having a rough time of it, too, but I really do appreciate the commiseration. I'm just so tired of trying to work it out with people. I'm not young enough that I'm gonna meet some soul brotha friend and form the coolest band ever. Making friends has seemed to only get harder for me as I've gotten older, let alone making friends I want to work on a group creative project with for an extended period of time. It's all "pro gear, pro attitude" from here on out. Doesn't anyone wanna bring the heavy, push boundaries/buttons and have a good time anymore? Just seems like most of what I run into are dour people doing chores together, and I get enough of that at the 9-5.
Somebody's gonna eat my pussy or I'm gonna cut your fucking throat.

Bands are like relationships. You'll go through many in your life \m/,

Playing full time, I don't think I've been in a band that I haven't been frustrated by to varying degrees. Just keep playing

I'm much older than you and had but all given up on an electrical music collaboration. Reverted to playing old cowboy songs on acoustic with some crusty hillbillies. My stacks had become catch-all's for clothes and cat perches. But I'm glad I hung on to all that crap because almost 12 years ago that all changed and I have been with a group of like-minded cats since then. We love the volume and the riff and in all this time have never had a band fight, disagreement or a "those two vs. those three" type of situations. It's the only time in my band playing life this has happened. Like you, I had all but thrown in the towel.

At this point a couple of the guys are now in their 40's or approaching them and I'm well over 107 years old. This band that has outlasted any marriage or long-term relationship I've been in and it shows no sign of slowing down or not kicking ass.

My point is, keep the faith and even if you give up, please just give up a little bit for only a little while.

Good stuff happens when you least expect it.

What are you dressing up as?

I'm not sure, I usually dress up like a skeleton but I'm thinking of maybe doing something new this year...Maybe a Zombie Hunter or Leslie West?  What do you think would be a cool costume for a Fat Guy on the cheap?

Wrote guitar parts for a new song this week which brings us up to a total of 3 and the cover makes it 4 and enough for a 25 minute set. Want to get a rough demo of one recorded and online soon and setup a show. Also, Boss OC-3 ordered and on the way. Psyched!

That's fucked up. Real friends and good connections shouldn't vanish just because you aren't currently playing. Fucking people.

jibberish

that is too bad M&B.

hey chief, outlaw progressive country band is your future.

you know it is..we'll be waiting for you when you awake enlightened...

I sing in a band called Hungry Brains. Spent the last year or two in stasis whilst we try to find a guitarist for live shows. Never thought it would be so tricky. We're kinda lazy I guess haha. We're all moving around a lot and my band mates are back and forth between here, Greece and the states too. It feels like a shame, but that's life...

Just started something new up with a friend. Moving along quite nicely. We just jam stuff out on his farm. Got some ideas recorded and almost ready to record our first EP which is nice.
it was to this planet that unattended ballpoints would make their way, slipping away quietly through wormholes in space to a world where they could enjoy a uniquely ballpointoid lifestyle, responding to highly ballpoint-oriented stimuli and generally leading the ballpoint equivalent of the good life

Ocean of Stars rehearsal went great.

Knocked the rust off the previous new song. Sounded great.

Worked on the two new ones. First one is almost together. Second will be a process.

I need to play guitar more, this music specifically. My hands aren't as used to is as I'd like.

That, and hot damn this is a pretty good band. I need to keep it up

Dylan Thomas

Mixing the Palace In Thunderland album on December 10th/11th.  We're working to clean up and edit the tracks that we have before then, and are also writing new material.

Wrote a cool new song on Wednesday, it's even more emo than the stuff on "In The Afterglow Of Unity"  ;)
The fact that I kept setting my own boats on fire was considered charming.

liquidsmoke

When it comes to doom, stoner, sludge, and related heavy sounds the 'emo' description or put down is usually a good thing and has nothing to do with emo hardcore or emo metalcore/whatever vibes.

Metal and Beer

I'll be back in something early next year, once I turn the heat up; I'm probably a tad butthurt motherfuckers ain't called to see how I'm doin' or something, haha

but you get to wear a cool hat like clint eastwood and wear one of those longrider coats that you can hide a rifle under when you play in an outlaw black country band.
you would look like the dude who just wasted the grim reaper in that getup.

sound fun? "ah ah ah noonan?"
