i started messin around after 10 years of not really touchin a guitar
so i caught this bug now im kinda unsatisfied with my gear(amp mainly)
i bought a teisco off cl fo cheap because of nostalgic reasons but it sounds badass-no issues there i got lucky
my mistake was the amp i got, instaed of buyin some gnarly loud no name p.o.s. that i could have strung with pedals from here to distortedechosville for $35, i got a brand new fender mustang for $50on cl.seemed like a good option, all the effects right away, pedals down the road, save some loot. but its effin boring(im new here-can i use swear words?)
its fine in my apt, but when i go to the space and have to mic it and turn knobs and hold buttons it just has no umphh
so i guess besides just coming here  to vent my disfrustration, i wanna get some gear that makes me feel like somewhat of a viking inside, i wanna stomp some sh*t, i want somethin to crank the f*ck up, my amp is like a light blue button down shirt
am i crazy
or a complaining baby
im pretty broke right now, dont have loot to buy myself out of the hole
i see a peavy butcher for $175 on cl near me
should i offer him $150 theres a cab at the space i can run it through
and is a distortion pedal necessary with a head like that or any decent one, or just a footswitch
sorry for the lame questions, all this is spinnin in my head 24/7
and not having answers is stoppin me from pushing misses f.mustang down the stairs pregnant
heres the teisco its fun
sounds badass when needed, easy to play, its fine
thanks guys nice to meet all of you

But only if you like pedals and dislike hearing drums. Or vocals.

you could do 200W gain monsters. No problemo. Of course I dont play with anyone else so, that last part is probably a byproduct

Lumpy

Separate head seems right. You can use the Fender combo as a home practice amp, it will always be useful for that.

Don't pay 500 dollars for a Peavey combo.

thanks for the input boys
not many situations where you can cry technology
and not get pounced on anymore
threw a fit with drummer last night whilst air-kicking towards the fender
he ended up diggin out some pedals stringin themup
and i got the poison out
at this point i think im gonna go pedal route and use amps available
and wait for that butcher ad to resurrect itself(i will keep dreaming-thank you)
maybe pick up a beefier combo along the way
my broke ass just wants a full toolbox yesterday
i am now creeping back into the shadows of the jam room
and start a two-week obsession with one of your favorite(most$$$) pedals
convince myself not having it is why i suck

In my experience combos weigh too much and don't have enough low end to make them worth using for anything down tuned and sludgy.  Get a head then you can try different cabs and speakers until you find a sound you like.  For dirt cheap pick up an old solid state peavey bass head they will be super fucking loud for guitar and will take pedals like a champ!

Combos are the shit. External speaker jack = 3/4 stack.

Vintage 1973 CARVIN ST4000 BASS HEAD. Awsome sounding bass head, very powerful, has sub bass switch and rotary multi - Tone switch too. MANY POSSIBLE TONES, Also this head is Solid State, You don't have to worry about changing tubes all the time and rattling them to death with bass vibrations, ONLY $ 100 . Simply don't need anymore.

Baltar

Should be pretty solid, ahem.  But be warned, if a SS amp goes down, it can be a pain in the ass to fix.

I dunno, it's not bad for a cheap amp, but 100W can be pretty quiet when it's solid state.

That said, my Yamaha is 100W (but only $50) and the Sunn Beta's were too, both loud.

Are you planning to use it for guitar or bass?
