Just finished mixing four tracks for a cassette release. Working on some new tunes. Got a show coming up with Might Could in September I think...Trying to nail down some dates for a little four day tour in November.
cool, on the cassette release. im all about cassettes as the 'new' way to release music. my band has a cassette out with another on the way..hopefully.

tottally agree. It's about as economical as it gets, it's cooler than a cd or a cdr, and with band camp you can give away free download codes. Plus out bass player runs a little cassette label, so that doesn't hurt  ;)

Was it you that put something out on 905 tapes?

how much does it cost to do a short run of tapes? what about packaging etc?

getting back together in september after a couple of months laying low (exams, work and what-not), all of us have worked/are working during the summer so all of us will have some nice new gear we can play with. after that we'll try and work out the songs we have lying around and hopefully we can record them and put them out as a first demo/EP/whatever. Also we're thinking of covering Hawkwind - Master of the Universe but slower, kinda like the US Christmas version but more stoner or whatever.

Life is slow in the Worship of Silence.  We don't play shows that often because many of the people that have given us shows out of the blue aren't playing either and we've never been proactive enough to actually pursue our own shows.  We've almost got enough material for a new album though which is good...one more song should do it and I think one of the songs we've got is the best one I've ever written, it at least has one of the coolest riffs I've ever written.

I'm also trying to start another project where I sing as well as play guitar but I'm not sure if my bass player and drummer are all that into it...it doesn't much matter though because I don't have any full songs just a random assortment of riffs.  I just don't find myself with the time or interest in songwriting for 12 hours a day for weeks at a time like I used to.  I definitely wish I was playing and writing more but so much just gets in the way.

King Coal's hopefully playing in September, shit's kinda been slow since February on account of the earthquakes fucking up most of the venues.
We played a show last month run by some weirdo electronic goths, but the second band took an hour to set up then played for and hour. We were on forth but by that time (about 3am) the free booze had gotten the better of me and after two and a half songs I suddenely woke up on my laundry floor. Oops. But apparently all but one guy had left by the time we went on.
Planning on recording another demo soon and writing some more. Good times.

My newish trio (Swayze) is doing our 4th show this Saturday and we have a couple other things set up over the next two months.  Did a recording session with Tad at his new home studio- still trying to get around to finishing that.  Old band (Mico De Noche) hasn't played for a year, but we've got a couple things coming up- drummer couldn't do it so we got an old pal to step in and working with him has been great, so we'll see where that all ends up, probably not firing it back up full-time like it was, but it's cool to have the option to do something when we want to.

Basically- too busy with the lamer aspects of life to play as much as I want, but trying to keep the itch scratched as much as time and energy allow.

Well Hemi should be a 3 piece, not a duo, the solo, yes, but I'm waiting for my new air conditioner for the practice space. You remember last weeks weather of course, and this week is more of the same :(

ah yes. none of my gear is in any sort of airconditioned space. makes practice in this weather a real workout!

i'd love to hear the solo stuff. I really like thrones, plus it should be easy to schedule practices, no?  ;D
Surf around, the clips are closer than you think. ;)  I truly recommend a VERY large subwoofer for listening.

AC due tomorrow, and then I can do a bit of re-wiring ;D we got the space framed, and panelled last week, just need to insulate the ceiling this weekend. We are going into the man-cave business. Every man needs his cave.

not sure. I think it only ends up being around a couple bucks a piece with packaging.
By my side I keep my things that I ne-uh-ed! Rest in peace is gonna set me free!

Husky is practicing, playing a show here and there, and still readying the album that might be released sometime before the next ice age. I'm tempted to just title it "Boston's next album". My work schedule so far this year has really put the hammer to the band. We seem to be settling into a steady band practice schedule though, and I'm pretty excited about these new songs. We didn't play much for a few months, and it sucked. It feels good to play again. I hope we can do more improv sets too. That's all I guess.

We haven't played much live while we've been making our second album, but we're just about finished with it now. It sounds pretty great if I say so myself, Benny Grotto has done a fine job in mixing the album. We're also shooting a video in sext month. Should be fun, I've been promised titties and lazers. Now we just need to find someone to release it. :P

The Belushis are pretty busy I guess.  Playing local shows 1 or 2 a month, getting ready for a 10 date tour in BC/Alberta next month.  Filling out our repertoire with some new stuff and some choice covers.  We'll be playing multiple set shows, or extended single set shows, throughout this tour, so we're aiming for two hours worth of material all together.  Might not sound like much to all you super long stoner jam dudes, but we're more of a 3 minute rock and roll band... so that's a lot of tunes.  And only about 5 or 6 covers in there.

Other than that, we've got 8 songs in the can for the next record, and will probably track about 4 more right when we get back from the tour, with the intention of putting our first vinyl LP out around Christmas.  We're going to do some homemade CD-R type discs with printed cardboard sleaves and 6 of those songs on it for the tour, and sell them for a twoonie (that's $2, in coin form).  Still have leftovers of the last two records (on CD) for cheap, and have a fresh batch of t-shirts with a design by Kojak from this site to round out the merch.

Also, we're on a steady and predictable schedule for total liver demolition.

My new band Wild Rocket is playing it's first gig next week (that we'll be barely ready for if even that), serious line up of Manatees, Conan, Slomatics and De Novissimis. Then probably no gigs again til October as the other two have post grad thesis' to hand in. Hopefully we'll get a demo of some sort recorded between times.

Playin with The Fucking Wrath and Moab tomorrow night in L.A., then opening for YOB and Dark Castle August 5th. Really excited about that one. (obviously)

but the scramble is on to fill hours for a big party on labor day. they need music all day, not just the headliners.
trying to hook up some peeps and learn a pile of ac/dc, sabbath and other stock party rock that is easy to play

at least i got my son to help out he is good drummer and guitar player now. my buddy the trombone/vocal guy is just not rock n roll enough for this so im not even going to mention it to him. but we need the third person, anything guitar bass or drums since we can cover the other two spots.  im not comfy enough to pull off 2 man shit out of cover tunes.

if i ONLY had my damn midi footpedal controller, like an organ footpedalboard, then i can have my bass also, THEN i could do 2 man easily. i have to get that shit already. it's holding me back.

tossom

Still retired at the moment, though other guitarist from old band has found a drummer to jam with sometime.  We'll see what happens, probably nothing I suspect.

Touring with Eric Tessmer Band all summer, up in New England/MidWest thru beginning of September. Trying to get some big things in the works, so far so good. Just gotta keep the van running, heh.

Have a new label interested in re-releasing my 2010 RPM challenge album Ocean of Stars. But finding a cost-effective means of making a short run of 300 or so has not been easy. Will look into the cassette duplication mentioned earlier in this thread as well for sure!

Need to either get Ocean of Stars going as a band/side-project or find something that needs a guitar player. Bass is awesome and all, but my Marshall and Iceman are thinking I've lost that lovin feelin...

Check out short run CDR's from discmakers.com, about 2 dollars&change apiece with jewel case, full color insert (single page, more pages = more money) full color printing on disc, etc. CDR= burned, CD = stamped from glass master. For short runs it's probably not cost effective to make a glass master (unless somebody else is paying, heh). Other options include digipack case, shrink wrap, barcode, etc. It's all ala carte and the more stuff you need, the more you pay. I think 300 is the first price break though, so if you can use that many, that's cool. I'm having them make 100 CDRs for my band right now, should be here by Friday. Full color cardboard sleeve (I prefer cardboard to jewel cases for a CDR) with shipping and tax it's about 270 bucks.

1)Take a blank piece of paper from your printer.
2)Stare at it for 5 minutes.

What you see is what we are up to.

Thanks Lumpy! Didnt realize the diff between a CD and a CDR on that site... glad that was explained to me. Would like to keep the original digipak and hopefully this will make it cheaper...!

Dunno if this is the correct thread but seemed appropriate enough, anyway this is my new psych/space band Wild Rocket in which I play bass and shout/sing:
