This movie from Bong Joon Ho was a mess (director of Parasite). Jake Gyllenhall was particularly terrible (might have been the direction though). Well made and probably worth a watch, but all over the place, as far as tone. Jarring emotional shifts - one minute it's heartwarming, then it's a slapstick comedy, then a serious message...

Excellent movie and incredible performances all around. Tonal shifts are bad? I'd avoid South Korean cinema in general

I liked The Host and some hardboiled crime Korean movies I've seen. I didn't dislike Okja but it was trying to do too many different things, IMO.

"Train to Busan" - B-minus - fun zombie romp eventually gets tedious.

"That Little Ol' band From Texas" ZZ Top documentary - B-minus - kind of weak - could have been a VH1 show. Origin story was cool but overall it was pretty superficial.
"Beyond the Lighted Stage - Rush documentary - B- I loved their origin story. Not quite as shallow as the ZZ Top one.

"Ballad of Buster Scruggs" - A-minus. Worth watching.

beyond the lighted stage was really good. I loved the old footage of them from highschool days. Im surprised alot of that existed.

Me too, that whole section of the movie is awesome. I'm not a fan really, I liked them as a hard rock band and less and less after that, pretty much. I still have the first album on cassette. When I was a teenager, Working Man was a stoner rock classic.

"Shot!" is good... documentary about Mick Rock who photographed tons of bands like Queen, David Bowie, Iggy, Lou Reed, CBGBs scene, too many to name. Lots of archival footage, he's a character and he's interesting to listen to.

I laughed a bunch, maybe because I really needed a laugh? It's like a big slapstick production (farce?) like the kind Woody Allen could have made, only there's musical numbers too. It's like an ode to golden age Hollywood, with tons of golden age Hollywood jokes.

I saw GOOD BOYS, it's basically what you would expect from a spiritual sequel to SUPERBAD about 6th graders. Which means I liked it. Pretty observative about the peculiarities of that age, and a strong laugh:joke ratio

why did rush have what appeared to be big chicken rotisseries and dryers as their stage props.

They got rid of their backline I guess. No amps on stage (at least not on Geddy Lee's side) but they wanted to have something back there because it looked empty (something like that). They would wash the crews clothes on one tour, and on a different tour the crew would eat the chickens after the show. That's what I remember reading.
